Who would have thought back in 1984, a little low-budget film starring an artist that most of the general public didn’t know about, would become a cult classic. Not only the film, but its fantastic soundtrack. Well, Purple Rain did just that. Regarded as one of the best rock films ever made, Purple Rain would go on to redefine the genre and make Prince a pop superstar. Award winning author John Kenneth Muir takes a look at the phenomenon that was and still is associated with the film.
Through interviews with several members of the film crew and other people with insights to the film, Music on Film: Purple Rainwill discuss various issues with the project, from the beginning to the release of the film. We sit down with John and take a deep look at the inner workings of this cult classic. You can buy the book through John’s official page or via Amazon. Links are posted below!
I can’t think of a better way to start off this podcast officially then talking about one of my all time favorite shows..Supernatural. I have watched and enjoyed this show from day one and have turned many of my friends into diehard Winchester fans. Imagine my surprise when I came across a website called The Winchester Family Business that was all Supernatural.
Now, there are many Supernatural fan sites out there, some good, some not so good. The Winchester Family Business stuck out to me because first and foremost it had some great writing. From the episode reviews to critiques, this site was amazing. I had the pleasure of chatting with the owner of the site Alice Jester on several occasions and really enjoyed chatting with her.
Fast forward a couple of months and I thought that she would be a great person to interview for the this podcast. So, I emailed her and she kindly accepted!
We are slowly getting things in order here at The PC Principle! We are working hard behind the scenes to bring you some very exclusive content and interviews. Speaking of interviews, we have several that are in the pipeline right now that we think you will enjoy.
Joel Gretsch (V, The 4400)
Damian Lewis (Life, Band of Brothers)
We’ll also be interviewing award winning author John Kenneth Muir, Alice Jester of The Winchester Family Business website and much more! Definitely stay tuned for some exciting content on the site!!
As I said before, not only do we have the PC Principle blog, but there is a podcast to go along with it! Now, you know the work I have done on the podcast the Millennium Group Sessions. We were able to get some great guests to be interviewed on that podcast, well, I plan on doing the same for this one. I have several guests already lined up, just trying to get the schedules figured out so I can record them. Stay tuned, you won’t be disappointed!
This is a very short podcast…sort of an introduction to the PC Principle. Sit back and enjoy!
As they say, all good things must come to an end. That is the case with the first blog and podcast I ever did called Tha Darkside Vibe. I started the show back in 2007 because I began to listen to many podcasts on the internet. Some of the good, most of them really bad. I thought to myself, why not give it a shot and do one about something I want to talk about…pop culture. As I am a pop culture junkie, I decided that would be the theme of my show and nothing was off limits.
At the same time, I decided also that I wouldn’t hold my tongue and be politically correct. Fuck that! I was going to say what was on my mind. Some people liked it, some people didn’t. That was fine with me as long as they were listening. At the height of my show, I was averaging around 500 plus downloads of my show, not too shabby.
I have to send huge shoutouts to my friends Big White Ryan and Bad Ass Frank. Those are the two who helped me get started and answered all my technical questions. They themselves had great podcasts of their own.
There was no subject that I didn’t talk about. If it was pop culture, I gave you my thoughts. This definitely isn’t a podcast for the kiddies so make sure they aren’t around if you are listening. 🙂 The one I have included in this blog post is a best of episode. Some of my most hated and most loved skits. I must say, I did get alot of hate email about some of my skits were people really got mad at something I talked about or a skit I did. Remember guys, these are all jokes, nothing serious, just trying to make people laugh. These are some of my favorites. So, hopefully you will enjoy them as well!
Welcome to the first post of my new project The PC Principle! This blog will cover all aspects of pop culture, music, movies, television and technology. If it’s pop culture related, I will talk about it here!
For the first post of the blog, I wanted to bring everyone’s attention to a film that was overlooked and I considered that a crime. Sunshine was released in 2007. It was directed by the fantastic Danny Boyle and had an amazing cast which included Chris Evans. Now like you, I had my concerns about this type of film and Chris Evans being part of it, but boy was I completely surprised. He gives probably the best performance in the film.
The basic plot of the film is that the Sun is dying and the Earth is in a deep freeze. Our cast is asked to try and reignite the Sun by taking a payload on a ship and shoot a bomb into the heart of the Sun which scientists believe will reignite the Sun. Now, without giving the movie away, let’s just say they run in the some issues as far as the crew goes and with a failed attempt before they tried. The film is gripping, suspenseful and just a thrill to watch.
I recently was a guest on a William Johnson’s podcast called the Paxton Configuration. We both watched the film and did audio commentary for the film. Here you will be able to listen to our commentary, so go rent the film and play our commentary along with the movie like an extra special feature on the DVD! We tell you in the commentary where exactly to start the movie to be in sync with our commentary. So, sit back and enjoy!
